Jade Roberts - QLD
Jade is the young, single mother of two children aged under 6yrs.
Following the birth of her most recent child a little over 1yr ago, Jade developed severe post-natal depression. In the months prior to birth Jade was consumed by a stressful custody battle with her eldest child’s father who lived several hours up the coast. As a result of a court order, she was forced to move while heavily pregnant away from her medical team and social support to allow easier visitation for the eldest child’s father.
This tragically left her to experience severe medical negligence, being denied treatment by the local prenatal care unit due to lack of planning. As a result, Jade gave birth to her youngest child on the side of the road while desperately trying to drive herself almost an hour to the second nearest hospital.
Jade’s mental health impacts her organizational skills; Being thrust into a new town she has faced serious financial setbacks. Initially, Jade stayed at a woman’s refuge with her eldest child to meet the court order. She has managed to gain housing and employment since. She has fallen behind in fees for her multiple storage facilities, utilities and childcare arrangements as a result. Her goal is to clear off the debts with the goal of being in the financial position to buy a small block of land to offer stability to the children around the time the youngest child is due to commence elementary school.
Money is tight and the agreement allows her to put the negative events of the past year behind her; It gives her hope for the future and the chance to repair her life in a manageable way.
